Subtelomeres: Evolution in the Human Genome

Abstract: Subtelomeres are extremely dynamic regions near the ends of chromosomes, exhibiting increased recombination and variation. Polymorphic duplications within subtelomeres contain genes, making subtelomeres a source of phenotypic diversity and disease.
