Abstract:BackgroundThe standard therapy for acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) is intravenous corticosteroids; however, 30% of UC patients do not recover with corticosteroids alone. Infliximab or cyclosporin is indicated to decrease the rates of colectomy of hospitalized ASUC patients.
