“…We did not observe any bleeding complications associated with the use of t-PA in patients with benign intracranial tumor or cavernoma. Our data are therefore in line with previously published observations of either intra-arterial or systemic thrombolysis for ischemic stroke 3 6 , 12 14 or myocardial infarction 7 , 8 in patients with benign intracranial tumor, and also contribute to the positive safety results reported in patients with cavernoma. 15 , 17 However, we did observe independent intracranial hemorrhage following thrombolysis in one of the two patients with malignant intracranial neoplasm.…”

“… 3 13 Based upon these reports, systemic thrombolysis has been repeatedly discussed as a feasible option for selected patients with benign intracranial tumor. 3 , 6 , 8 , 13 The same conclusion was drawn from the single population-based analysis on the matter. 14 Treatment of these patients, however, is beyond the approval of the Food and Drug Administration.…”

“…In a review of 12 patients with BTS treated with intravenous thrombolysis, ICH occurred in only one patient who had a glioblastoma, while there were no complications in the other patients with benign brain tumors [9]. There are also anecdotal reports of successful intra-arterial thrombolysis for AIS in the setting of benign brain tumors [18]. We did not have access to the histopathology of the brain tumors.…”

“…The management of our patient was not optimal, due to the limitations of radiological explo-rations and neurosurgery conditions in Congo. Without others contraindications thrombolysis with rt-PA can be used in acute stroke associated to meningioma [11,12] and, in some cases endovascular treatment was used before tumor surgery [10]. In our case, partial recovery of neurological impairment is due to steroid treatment and early rehabilitation, because outcome depend on treatment and early rehabilitation [13].…”
