“…Milrinone could be a good alternative when inotropes are required in TCM and when dobutamine infusion is associated with tachycardia [52]. The use of milrinone has been proposed to augment the cerebral perfusion in TCM giving its combined inotropic and vasodilating properties [53].…”

“…The use of milrinone has been proposed to augment the cerebral perfusion in TCM giving its combined inotropic and vasodilating properties [53]. Milrinone is a phosphodiesterase-III inhibitor that increases calcium influx in the myocardium which leads to increased cardiac contractility without βagonist action, resulting in less tachycardia [52] and myocardial oxygen consumption [54]. However, milrinone may induce hypotension as a result of peripheral vasodilatory property, which may require intensive hemodynamic monitoring during the management.…”

“…In the clinical setting, however, the infusion of catecholamines such as noradrenaline and dobutamine may have limited effects and may aggravate cardiac failure due to massive stress hormone release, so‐called ‘catecholamine surge’ or ‘adrenergic storm’ caused by severe acute brain injury . There are also concerns of cerebral vasoconstriction even with the use of the most reliable vasopressor noradrenaline .…”

“…Nevertheless, Takotsubo is often linked to physical or mental stress before the onset of illness [4]. Cases involving children has also been reported [8,9].…”
