Successful treatment of malakoplakia of the liver and skin in a pediatric liver transplant patient

Abstract: Malakoplakia is a rare granulomatous infectious process that affects patients with primary or secondary immunodeficiency. 1 Abnormal macrophage bactericidal activity leads to mass-forming aggregates of histiocytes containing bacteria and pathognomonic basophilic inclusions called Michaelis-Gutmann bodies (MGB).
