“…Several antimicrobials-such as imipenem, meropenem, amikacin, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, minocycline, moxifloxacin, dapsone, linezolid, and tigecycline-have been active in vitro and in animal models of nocardiosis (Cercenado et al, 2007;Threlkeld and Hooper, 1997;Vera-Cabrera et al, 2004;McNeil et al, 1995). These antibiotics and also clarithromycin have been clinically used and reported in some cases of nocardiosis (Beaman et al, 1992;Fihman et al, 2006;Moylett et al, 2003;Naik et al, 2007;Nizam et al, 2007). The current study confirms that linezolid and amikacin are the most effective treatment agents against the species isolated in the current patients, followed by imipenem and cotrimoxazole, with no significant recent changes in antimicrobial susceptibility.…”
