“…The ease of sulphonation of a synthetic polymer enables good remodelling and reconstruction of the impaired tissues and act as active wound dressing material in the form of sulphopropyl agaroses and dextrans. Maintenance of an acceptable level of sulphonation in ocular applications can reduce discomfort and hypertonicity in tear films [24]. Cross links in the sulphonated polymeric chains can effectively enhance their mobility acting as heparin mimics, healing an exuding wound effectively [25].…”

“…The hydrogel wound dressing composed of sodium salt of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonate (Na-AMPS) has been extensively considered as biomimetic monomer because it offers the potential to mimic the role of the natural system namely, glycosaminoglycan which is an important molecule in wound healing process [11][12][13]. As shown in figure 1(a), the structure of Na-AMPS contains sulfonate group which plays role in water binding with the natural tissue and, subsequently, serves to maintain moist wound environment in the wound healing step [11,14,15]. Therefore, Na-AMPS was designed for use as based network of wound dressing material fabricated in this research.…”
