63Cu and109Ag NMR studies of copper(I) and silver(I) salts in mixed solvents containing nitriles

Abstract: The solvation of copper(i) in mixed solvent systems containing acetonitrile or benzonitrile and the co-solvents propionitrile, butyronitrile, valeronitrile, as well as trimethyl-, triethyl-and tributyl-phosphite has been examined by 63Cu NMR and also, in the case of the phosphites, by ''P NMR. The concentration dependence and the variation of the chemical shift of the silver-109 signal with solvent composition have been studied in solutions of si h e r trifluoroacetate (AgO,CCF,).

“…For checking its purity, the salt was analyzed by its elemental analysis and by titrating it in acetonitrile against aqueous KMnO4 solution. Copper(I) perchlorate tetrabenzonitrile [21] (CuClO4.4BN) was prepared from Cu(ClO4)2•6H2O by reduction with copper powder in benzonitrile (BN). Cu(ClO4)2•6H2O was dissolved in anhydrous benzonitrile and the solution was heated at 70-80 °C.…”

“…Ultrasonic wave propagation in a material has become a basic test for determining its properties 1 . Many researchers have demonstrated the critical and fundamental function of molecular specifics of the solvent species in determining particular interactions, which are responsible for macroscopic thermodynamic and other associated properties in non-electrolyte solutions 2,3 . Materials are typically treated in fluid form in the chemical process industries, so their physical, chemical, and transport properties are essential 4,5 .…”

“…In the present work, ultrasonic velocity studies have been carried out on tetraalkylammonium salts in binary mixtures of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and methanol (MeOH). Ion-solvent interactions were extensively investigated in a number of mixed solvents using different techniques 2,3 . The aim of this work is to determine the solvation characteristic of Bu 4 4 , N,N-dimethylformamide, acetonitrile and n-butyronirile and their binary mixtures 5 .…”
