The reliability of off-grid solar power systems (PLTS) is highly dependent on battery performance. However, the battery shows limited response in supplying the load due to unstable voltage fluctuations, which causes the battery to heat up quickly. So there is a need for additional components in the system such as supercapacitors. Supercapacitors are energy storage devices with high power and energy density, short charging duration, long service life, and low risk of heat. This research aims to determine the effect of supercapacitors on the performance of off-grid PLTS systems. The research uses data from the specifications of the off-grid rooftop PLTS system at SMKN 1 Lingsar. Temperature and irradiation data are obtained from the data logger installed in the system. The research is a simulation in Simulink MATLAB. Several supercapacitor capacities were selected to determine changes in system performance. The simulation results show that the supercapacitor capacity has a significant effect on the current and voltage in the battery. Supercapacitors show the ability to absorb and release large currents in a relatively short time, thereby speeding up the battery charging process. Supercapacitors with a capacity equivalent to battery capacity have the best contribution to system performance. Keywords:Batteries; Off-grid Rooftop PV System; Supercapacitor. AbstrakKeandalan sistem tenaga surya (PLTS) off-grid sangat bergantung pada kinerja baterai. Namun, baterai menunjukkan respons yang terbatas dalam menyuplai beban karena fluktuasi tegangan yang tidak stabil, yang menyebabkan baterai menjadi cepat panas. Sehingga perlu adanya komponen tambahan pada sistem seperti superkapasitor. Superkapasitor adalah perangkat penyimpanan energi dengan daya dan kepadatan energi tinggi, durasi pengisian daya yang singkat, masa pakai yang lama, serta risiko panas yang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh supercapasitor pada kinerja sistem PLTS off-grid. Penelitian menggunakan data dari spesifikasi sistem PLTS atap off-grid di SMKN 1 Lingsar. Data suhu dan iradiasi diperoleh dari data logger yang terpasang pada sistem. Penelitian merupakan simulasi pada Simulink MATLAB. Beberapa kapasitas supercapasitor dipilih untuk mengetahui perubahan kinerja sistem. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas superkapasitor berpengaruh signifikan terhadap arus dan tegangan pada baterai. Superkapasitor menunjukkan kemampuan menyerap dan melepaskan arus besar dalam waktu relatif singkat sehingga mempercepat proses pengisian baterai. Superkapasitor berkapasitas setara kapasitas baterai mempunyai konstribusi terbaik pada kinerja sistem. Kata Kunci: Baterai, Sistem PV Atap Off-grid, Superkapasitor.

Renewable and distributed power generation have been acknowledged as options for the safe, secure, sustainable, and cost-effective production, delivery, and consumption of energy in future low-carbon cities. This research introduces the Dynamic Coyote Search Algorithm (DCSA)-based optimal scheduling of distributed energy systems for home energy management systems. According to the heat storage properties of the building, a smart building energy model is established and introduced into the optimal scheduling of the distributed energy system in order to optimize the adjustment of the room temperature within the user’s acceptable room temperature range. The DCSA algorithm used is to minimize the daily comprehensive operating cost, including environmental factors. According to the simulation results, the impact of smart energy storage on scheduling is analyzed, and the results show that the optimal scheduling of building smart energy storage participating in the system reduces the total cost by about 3.8%. In addition, the DCSA has a significantly faster convergence speed than the original coyote algorithm.

One of the best ways to monitor the health of the heart is to regularly record its electrical activity by using an electrocardiogram (ECG). Abnormal ECG signals may indicate conditions such as heart attack, arrhythmia, or heart defects. There are many ECG devices available which can detect and amplify this differential biological signal from the heart, allowing a lot of information to be collected quickly. The ECG is often small and easy to use, but its power is supplied from regular batteries, which need to be replaced after a certain period of use. This causes discomfort for elderly users. To overcome this limitation, in this paper, we aim to develop a solar-powered, portable Bluetooth device for ECG measurements. The device can be interfaced with smartphones or other wireless devices via Bluetooth by a distance up to 100 m. The ECG device was designed to use solar energy, which is also the main power source. Following the solar energy harvesting circuit is a solar panel with an output voltage of 2.4 V and a power out of 0.25 W. We optimized the design to have a very low power consumption and in sleep mode the current consumption is only around 40 µA. The device was designed with 24-bit resolution and a sampling frequency of up to 2133 Hz, which can allow high accuracy ECG measurements. The device is not only used for heart rate monitoring, but it can also assist doctors in analyzing ECG signals with a high accuracy via embedded operating software.
