The parameters L, C, ␣, and of general transmission-line equations are almost invariant to frequency in the passband of the microstrip low-pass filter. In the frequency domain, almost same result as that of MoM can be derived from the general transmission-line equations with the use of the parameters L, C, ␣, and at the Ϫ3-dB response frequency. The characteristic of ␣ and is described with an experiential expression, so the better result is derived by using the ␣ and Ј experiential expressions and the parameters L and C at low frequencies. In the time domain, applicable results can also be obtained with the use of the on-line FDTD method, although the applicability of the on-line FDTD method depends on the dispersion characteristics of the general transmission-line equations on specific circuit structure.
