This article is the first report on the observation of laser IR radiation of Xe I atoms pumped by a longitudinal pulsed inductive transformertype discharge. Both xenon and its mixtures with helium and argon were used as the active media. An emission spectrum was registered in the range of 190-1150 nm and consisted of two lines: 904.5 nm and 979.9 nm. The intensity ratios strongly depended on the composition and pressure of the active medium. Radiation energy in the first experiments did not exceed 0.1 mJ. Lasing pulse duration was 6 ± 1 ns (FWHM). Measured radiation divergence was 1 ± 0.2 mrad.
