Supersymmetric deformations of maximally supersymmetric gauge theories

Abstract: We study supersymmetric and super Poincaré invariant deformations of ten-dimensional super Yang-Mills theory and of its dimensional reductions. We describe all infinitesimal super Poincaré invariant deformations of equations of motion of ten-dimensional super Yang-Mills theory and its reduction to a point; we discuss the extension of them to formal deformations. Our methods are based on homological algebra, in particular, on the theory of L-infinity and A-infinity algebras. The exposition of this

“…33 At least in the case of 3 and 4-point subamplitudes it is known not to happen and it is clear that in the N -point subamplitude formula [44] the (ζ · k) N terms will show up, but we have not checked that for N ≥ 5 those terms do not cancel each other. 34 We have made some change in eq.…”

“…to exist in Open Bosonic String Theory 33 . This suggests that the reason for it is Spacetime Supersymmetry (an inherent symmetry of Open Superstring Theory) and that is why the 'conventional' S-matrix approach (which treats the bosonic and the supersymmetric theory of open strings, at least in the determination of the bosonic terms of the OSLEEL, on the same footing) does not include it.…”

“…Though gauge symmetries do not play an essential role in the Wess-Zumino model, we expect that the unfolded formalism may be useful for the analysis of more complicated models like super Yang-Mills theory despite the significant progress already achieved by different methods [22][23][24][25][26][27]. In this work we are mainly interested in the analysis of specificities of the application of the unfolded technique to supersymmetric models in superspace which is a modest step toward the future study of the gauge supersymmetric theories.…”

“…Applied to on-shell unfolded system it provides a systematic tool for the analysis of on-shell counterterms in supersymmetric systems, the issue which was extensively studied during the recent years [22][23][24][25][26][27]. It would be interesting to explore its applications to more complicated models with extended SUSY and, in the first place, to the theories whose manifestly supersymmetric formulation is yet lacking, like N = 1, D = 10 or N = 4, D = 4 super Yang-Mills theories.…”
