Given that the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct mandate psychologists to practice only within areas in which they are skilled (American Psychological Association, 2017), it is essential that school-based clinicians receive supervision that allows them to gain and improve skills to provide quality services to children and youth.Public schools are governmental institutions; a diverse array of civil rights follow students into schools. These include protections against unreasonable discipline, unnecessary segregation, and the right to supports that allow them to meaningfully access education (Yell, 2019).
