SuperWASP observations of long timescale photometric variations in cataclysmic variables

Abstract: Aims. We investigated whether the predictions and results of Stanishev et al. (2002, A&A, 394, 625) concerning a possible relationship between eclipse depths in PX And and its retrograde disc precession phase, could be confirmed in long term observations made by SuperWASP. In addition, two further CVs (DQ Her and V795 Her) in the same SuperWASP data set were investigated to see whether evidence of superhump periods and disc precession periods were present and what other, if any, long term periods could be dete… Show more

“…It also produces excellent data for the study of stellar variability. For full details of the SuperWASP project, see Pollacco et al (2006); for examples of stellar variability studies that have been conducted with the data, we refer the reader to the following papers: Maxted et al (2008); Thomas et al (2010); Norton et al (2011Norton et al ( , 2016; Smalley et al (2011Smalley et al ( , 2014Smalley et al ( , 2017; Holdsworth et al (2014aHoldsworth et al ( , 2017; Bowman et al (2015); Greer et al (2017).…”

“…The SuperWASP project has been shown to have a versatile archive in which to search for a whole host of variable stars (e.g. Maxted et al 2008;Thomas et al 2010;Norton et al 2011;Smalley et al 2011Smalley et al , 2014Smalley et al , 2017McQuillin et al 2012;Holdsworth et al 2014;Holdsworth 2015). In this paper, we provide an in depth analysis of three sdBV stars which have been identified to vary by Holdsworth et al (2014) and Holdsworth (2015).…”
