Support for situation awareness in trustworthy ubiquitous computing application software

Abstract: SUMMARYDue to the dynamic and ephemeral nature of ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) environments, it is especially important that the application software in ubicomp environments is trustworthy. In order to have trustworthy application software in ubicomp environments, situation-awareness (SAW) in the application software is needed to enforce flexible security policies and detect violations of security policies. In this paper, an approach is presented to provide development and runtime support to incorporate SAW … Show more

“…Pour Yau et al (2006), le contexte comprend le système de l'utilisateur ainsi que toutes les informations instantanées, détectables et pertinentes provenant de l'environnement. Quant à la situation, dans leur approche (Yau et al, 2006), elle est définie par un ensemble de contextes collectés sur une période de temps et qui est pertinent pour les actions futures des applications. Yau et al ont analysé la sémantique des situations et leur ont donné des représentations formelles.…”

“…Yau et al (2006) define context as "any instantaneous, detectable and relevant property of the environment, the system or users", which is similar to, but more general than, the definition offered by Dey (2001) that context is "any information that can be used to characterize the situation of an entity. An entity is a person, place, or object that is considered relevant to the interaction between a user and an application, including the user and applications themselves".…”

“…Although situation-awareness trust estimation in [8] for SBSs can help users estimate the trust values of service providers based on the current situations of SBSs, but their capabilities are limited because human factors, such as collaboration and competition, affecting the trust values of service providers, are not considered. The other drawback is that they are based on pairwise trust relationship, which normally does not include the transitive property in the propagation of trust among service providers.…”
