Support System for Determination of Low-Income Students Scholarship (BSM) with Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS)

Abstract: Muhammadiyah 3 Middle School in Purwokerto is the school that organizes the Low-Income Students Scholarship (BSM) program every first semester held in each new school year. During this time, processing student data and other equipment have been processed with manual calculations, as well as data storage using only Microsoft Excel. In selecting ranking, it still uses paper. The paper calculation on the selection of BSM recipients in the previous year is often lost and hard to find already needed, also there is … Show more

“…There are some important similarities between correlation and regression. These statistical methods determine the strength and direction of the relationship between two numeric variables [21,22]. It is worth noting that when the correlation (represented by the letter "r") is negative, this means that the regression slope (represented by the letter "b") will also be negative.…”

“…For example, with the help of specific software (Hsueh, 2018 ; Hananto, 2021 ) or algorithms (Astuti and Handoko, 2018 ; Imron and Kusumah, 2018 ), educators could identify and target the students who hold high materialism through, as well as predicting the likelihood of them starting a business in the future through machine learning (Jen and Lin, 2021 ; Prayitno et al, 2021 ; Saputro and Nanang, 2021 ; Sugiyanto, 2021 ). And then, entrepreneurial education programs could provide them with decision support systems (Azis et al, 2020 ; Fujishima, 2022 ), e-learning classes (Widiyanto et al, 2021 ), and customized training plans (Thelen, 2021 ) to improve their achievement motivation and enhance attitudes and skills regarding entrepreneurship.…”

“…The numerical computations involved in the TOPSIS method have been discussed and explained in many published studies including Kumar and Singh [16], Azis et al [17], and Jasri et al [18]. It should be noted that although some small variations for the computations can be found between these studies such as the inclusion of importance weighting for the evaluation criteria, the fundamental of the TOPSIS method in ranking alternative solutions remains similar.…”
