“…Support programs for caregivers who take care of PWD have a positive effect on well-being and care outcomes and improvements in stress reduction and coping skills (Leggett et al, 2018). They also help families to more effectively manage the problems that they face during the course of dementia (Gitlin, Cigliana, Cigliana, & Pappa, 2017). A home-based strategy for caregivers involves education on the prevention and reduction of problematic behaviors, problem-solving approaches, training for care skills, environmental modification, and the use of community resources, and it is effective to establish strategies to integrate these multiple components (Cristancho-Lacroix et al, 2015;Dowling et al, 2014;Tremont et al, 2015).…”

“…Early fall experiences might be traumatic, leading to a self-reinforcing pattern of physical decline ( Maclean, 2010 ; Tomita et al, 2018 ). People with lower capacity were much more sensitive to the demands of the environment than people with higher competence ( Gitlin et al, 2017 ; Lawton et al, 1968 ). Besides, given that incident fall is usually caused by some accident ( Mak et al, 2010 ) while recurrent falls are more linked to persistent factors ( Boye et al, 2015 ), material deterioration might cause some irreversible changes and increase survivors’ risk of recurrent falls.…”

“…In dealing with this challenge, mental health service needs to establish support groups for family caregivers where they can meet and share experiences in dealing with their various psychological challenges. This is likely to reduce their psychological burden of care [ 41 , 42 ].…”
