Suppression of intrinsic thermal conductivity in Sr1−xGdxTiO3 ceramics via phonon-point defect scattering for enhanced thermoelectric application

Abstract: A substantial reduction in the thermal conductivity for strontium titanate (ABO3) perovskite structure was realized for the A-site substitution of gadolinium (rare earth element) in the SrTiO3 ceramics.

“…The peaks at 401.75 and 399.40 eV of N 1s indicate the existence of nitrogen in the form of NH 2 and NH 3 + , respectively, implying the exitance of nitrogen-containing groups on the surface of CDs framework, and abundant C–N and amino nitrogen. , The O 1s shows a single peak at 532.40 eV, which may be related to the surface oxygen in the form of hydroxyl groups . The XPS of Gd 4d in Figure S3(d) shows that the peaks at 143.19 and 148.40 eV are attributed to Gd 4d 5/2 and 4d 3/2 , respectively, confirming the existence of Gd 3+ in 4-ASA/Gd-CDs samples . Therefore, both FT-IR spectra and XPS showed that the prepared 4-ASA/Gd-CDs possess rich C–C, CN, and C–O chemical bonds and abundant surface functional groups, such as NH 2 , −OH, etc., as well as the characteristic functional group Gd–O, indicating the successful synthesis of 4-ASA/Gd-CDs.…”
