Supramolecular Host–Guest Interactions of Oxazine-1 Dye with β- and γ-Cyclodextrins: A Photophysical and Quantum Chemical Study

Abstract: Supramolecular host-guest interactions of oxazine-1 dye with β- and γ-cyclodextrins (βCD and γCD, respectively) have been investigated in neutral aqueous solution (pH ∼ 7) at ambient temperature (∼25 °C) following absorption, fluorescence, and circular dichroism measurements. The dye forms inclusion complexes with both CDs, causing significant changes in its photophysical properties. Whereas fluorescence titration data for lower dye concentrations fit well with 1:1 stoichiometric complexes, the time-resolved f… Show more

“…It also exhibits sequence‐specific complexation with other biomolecules, such as RNA, serum albumins, enzymes, and so forth; this brings about characteristic changes in its fluorescence properties. The host–guest interactions of DAPI with macrocyclic hosts such as β‐ and γ‐cyclodextrins, and cucurbit[7]uril induce moderate changes in its fluorescence intensity, compared with the significant fluorescence changes reported with the biomolecules .
