Abstract:The shifts of the high energy peaks of the KVV Auger line shape of Li(100) and the L2,3VV Auger line shape of Al(100) due to surface localization in the presence of a finite work function for the conduction electrons have been calculated. The results are sensitively dependent on the relative values of the distance of the surface a from the first layer of ions and the mean free path A of the ejected Auger electrons.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
