Surface Pretreatment and Fabrication Technology of Woven Carbon Fiber Cloth Aluminium Alloy Matrix Composite

Abstract: Carbon fiber is mainly distributed in the shape of short fibers and unidirectional fibers as the reinforcing phase in metal matrix composites, and it is seldom studied as woven-cloth shaped to reinforce the matrix. In this paper, the pretreatment and the surface metallization of the woven carbon fiber were studied. Besides, the casting experiment without external pressure was carried out under the application of magnetic field. The result shows that when burning about 45mins at 500°C in the atmospheric environ… Show more

“…The individual fibers each had a mean diameter of 7-8µm, a density of 1.76-1.79 g/cm 3 , and a nominal longitudinal strength of more than 3.5GPa. In order to get rid of epoxy resin glue, the woven carbon fibers were placed in a furnace for 45 minutes under 773 K. The mass of fibers were reduced by 3%, which indicated the original fiber surface had been fully exposed (Zhang et al, 2015).…”

“…They have high specific strength, specific rigidity, good resistance to creep and high temperature [1,2], and show great potential in aerospace and advanced weapons and equipment. In recent years, the performance of carbon fiber has been greatly improved, and carbon fiber reinforced aluminum composite has been identified as an ideal structural material due to its high specific strength, good thermal stability, and outstanding corrosion resistance [3][4][5][6].…”
