Surface Tensions of the Ternary Mixtures Containing an Isomeric Butanol + n-Hexane + 1-Chlorobutane at 298.15 K

Abstract: Surface tensions of the ternary mixtures containing an isomer of butanol (1-butanol, 2-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, or 2-methyl-2-propanol) + n-hexane + 1-chlorobutane have been measured at atmospheric pressure and 298.15 K. From these experimental data, surface tension deviations were calculated and fitted by the Cibulka's equation. Experimental results have been compared to the predictions obtained by a group contribution method; furthermore, using this method, the excess surface molar compositions of n-hex… Show more

“…The water surface tension value at 298.15 K was 71.78 mN·m –1 , and the values for the density, refractive index, and sound velocity were ρ = 997.021 kg·m –3 , n D = 1.33250, and u = 1496.96 m·s –1 respectively. In Table , the experimental refractive index n D , density ρ, speed of sound u , and surface tension of the pure components σ 0 are compared with literature data. …”

“…Chemical absorption is an efficient procedure for the removal of acid compounds such as CO 2 , SO 2 , and H 2 S from sour gas streams. The solutions containing alkanolamines are widely used for the absorption of acidic gases from natural gas and different refinery streams. The well-known alkanolamines from this category are monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA) as effective chemical adsorbents. For the rational design of gas refinery, separation units, and the related chemical industries, information of the physicochemical properties of pure solvents and their mixtures such as surface tension and surface properties is necessary. …”
