Surface Wave Speed of Functionally Graded Magneto-Electro-Elastic Materials with Initial Stresses

Abstract: Abstract. The shear surface wave at the free traction surface of halfinfinite functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic material with initial stress is investigated. The material parameters are assumed to vary exponentially along the thickness direction, only. The velocity equations of shear surface wave are derived on the electrically or magnetically open circuit and short circuit boundary conditions, based on the equations of motion of the graded magneto-electro-elastic material with the initial stresses a… Show more

“…It is necessary to investigate the effects of the initial stresses on the wave propagation behaviour in functionally graded magnetic-electric-elastic materials and structures. Li et al [18] investigated the propagation behaviour of shear surface wave in a functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic half-space with initial stresses and discussed the effects of the initial stresses and material gradient index on the surface wave velocities.…”

“…Surface electro-elastic SH waves in a layered device with a piezoelectric substrate and a hard dielectric layer were described by Danoyan and Piliposian [11]. Li and Wei [12,13] encountered the pre-stressed and MEE solids' impact on the surface wave speed and velocity of FGMEE materials. In their study, Wu et al [14] used the modified Pagano approach to analyze the three-dimensional static behavior of FGMEE plates.…”

“…In recent years, many authors are of a great interest to the wave propagation research of MEE materials. For examples, Li [11] investigated the shear surface wave at the free traction surface of half in finite functionally graded MEE material with initial stress. The velocity equations of shear surface wave are derived on the electrically or magnetically open circuit and short circuit boundary conditions, based on the equations of motion of the graded magneto-electro-elastic material with the initial stresses and the free traction boundary conditions.…”
