Abstract:<p><strong>Background</strong><strong>: </strong>Pearson’s near-total laryngectomy (NTL) is a voice- preserving alternative to total laryngectomy in patients with advanced but localized laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers, wherein lung- powered speech is achieved by creation of a dynamic biological trachea-pharyngeal shunt.
