Surgical treatment of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation: a retrospective study of single tertiary center experience

Abstract: The value of CVR to evaluate prognosis showed no statistical significance. Although CXR are not reliable indicators to assess the lesion, it can predict the emergency situation. Due to potential trend of symptomatic and poor postoperative symptoms group, early postnatal CT scan and early surgical treatment are suggested.

“…Intriguingly, we found that all 10 patients with CPAM‐associated breathing symptoms were in the group of CVR less than 1.0 in our study cohort. Moreover, we observed no significant difference in CVR between the asymptomatic and symptomatic groups, which was consistent with the findings from the study by Xia et al 10 Our results indicated that CVR was not a good predictor of long‐term outcomes, and that close follow up was needed, even for those patients whose CVR was less than 1.0.…”

“…A systematic review suggested that CVR ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 on the initial ultrasound scan could have the greatest predictive value for neonatal outcomes 15 . However, other research reported that CVR was not a statistically significant indicator of prognosis 10 . Intriguingly, we found that all 10 patients with CPAM‐associated breathing symptoms were in the group of CVR less than 1.0 in our study cohort.…”
