Surgical treatment of morbid obesity

Abstract: Morbid obesity significantly reduces life span and is associated with much co-morbid pathology. Diet, behavioural therapy and drug therapy are largely unsuccessful. Surgical treatment offers the best hope. This review summarizes the rationale for treatment and the available surgical options.
