Six-banded armadillos have been previously reported to be infected with Mycobacterium leprae (Frota et al 2012;da Silva Ferreira et al 2020) and Leptospira (Dalazen et al 2020), but little is known about their exposure to and/or infection due to other zoonotic pathogens.
