“…Morphological characters and measurements of the Turkish specimens are very close to those of re-descriptions (Kolodochka 2006;Moraes et al 2007;Chant & McMurtry 2007;Papadoulis et al 2009;Ferragut et al 2010;Barbar 2013;Denmark & Evans 2011). Moraes et al (2007) examined several specimens collected from Kenya and found four pairs of preanal setae in three male specimens.…”

“…Then in a biosystematics study it was shown that the dominant species on avocado in the coastal areas was E. hibisci whereas the species on citrus in the inland areas was a newly described species, E. tularensis (Congdon) . In a phytoseiid survey of 50 Syrian citrus coastal orchards, E. scutalis had a prevalence of 10% and in an additional study in a Syrian lemon orchard this species exceeded 30% of the identified phytoseiid species . We suggest that molecular tools would be useful in determining whether the E. scutalis dominant on avocado in Israel is indeed the same species as the prevalent species on citrus in Syria.…”

“…Iphiseius degenerans Berlese was found occasionally in large numbers in the coastal region, and Euseius scutalis Athias‐Henriot was not frequent on citrus. Between the years 1994 and 1996 E. stipulatus Athias‐Henriot, a dominant phytoseiid species in citrus orchards in many Mediterranean countries, was brought to Israel for the control of citrus mite pests from Italy and Spain. It was reared and released in citrus orchards in various climatic regions in Israel .…”
