Survey of the Apoptotic Effect of Ginnalin A on Hep3b Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cell Line

Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma is the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Ginnalin A (GA) is one of the most important phenolic compounds of maple syrup and its anticancer effect has been shown that in several cancer cell lines. In this study, objective was to investigate the apoptotic effect of GA in Hep3B human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line. Cell viability was determined by using XTT method after the treatment with GA. Total RNA was isolated with TRIzol Reagent in control and dose grou… Show more

“…Recently, the phenolic compound ginnalin A displayed an apoptotic effect on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (Hep3B). Additionally, it showed a promising preventive activity against colon cancer cells (HCT116, SW480, and SW620) with IC 50 values of 24.8 µM, 22.0 µM, and 39.7 µM, respectively [47,58].…”

“…It also showed some cytotoxicity against L1210, HL-60, K562, and B16F10 cancer cell lines in vitro by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay [ 11 ]. Ginnalin A inhibited the proliferation of HCT-116 and MCF-7 cell lines and it also obstructed the S and G2/M-phases of the cell cycle by down-regulating the levels of cyclin A and cyclin D1 [ 21 ]. Ginnalin A inhibited the proliferation of HCT-116, HT-29, and Caco-2 cell lines by blocking the S-phase of the cell cycle [ 22 ].…”

“…Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the main reasons for cancer deaths worldwide [ 12 ]. Özden et al [ 50 ] investigated the apoptotic impact of Ginnalin A in a human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (Hep3B). IC 50 of Ginnalin A was calculated to be 155 μM in Hep3B cells for 72h.…”
