“…The septal cartilage was the preferred material in previous studies. 2,3 In this study, the cartilage chips were used under direct vision, placed on a carrier such as Killian septum gouge, the handle of Rubin osteotome or Freer elevator. The Killian septum gouge was the most ideal instrument to place cartilage chips on the radix because of its concave bed.…”

“…During rhinoplasty, cartilage is used for many reasons. The senior author likes to make an analogy with the construction when it comes to the use of cartilage in rhinoplasty: the cartilage dust is like cement, the diced cartilage is like pebble stone, 1 the chips 2 3 are like tiles or bricks, the thinned cartilage is like a cover material, 4 the grafts are like columns.…”

“…Minced and diced cartilage grafts that had been transplanted to a subcutaneous dorsal pocket in rabbits showed a marked chondrocyte nucleus loss accompanied by a minimal peripheral proliferation if the cartilage had been surrounded by braided Surgicel or by fibrillar Surgicel. 35 The negative effect of the oxidized cellulose wrapping on the viability of enclosed diced cartilage therefore appears to remain somewhat controversial, as does the role of the fascial sleeve in DCF grafts. The fascial sleeve was initially considered crucial for cartilage survival, 5 but its importance was later questioned by two studies comparing the survival of solid block and diced cartilage wrapped in fascia in rabbits.…”
