Suspect Cell Convolutes in the Bone Marrow of a Patient with Renal Cell Carcinoma Unmasked as Atypical Convolutes of Hairy Cells

Abstract: We describe a patient who concomitantly presented with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and hairy cell leukemia (HCL). Hairy cells formed atypical cell convolutes on bone marrow smears that might have been mistaken for tumor metastases.
