Sustainability and Innovation in the Automotive Sector: A Structured Content Analysis

Abstract: This study aims to analyse the scientific literature on sustainability and innovation in the automotive sector in the last 13 years. The research is classified as descriptive and exploratory. The process presented 31 articles in line with the research topic in the Scopus database. The bibliometric analysis identified the most relevant articles, authors, keywords, countries, research centers and journals for the subject from 2004 to 2016 in the Industrial Engineering domain. We concluded, through the systemic a… Show more

“…The bibliometric analysis was first introduced by Garfield in the mid-20 th century [31]. The main objective of this methodology is to identify, organize, and analyze the main components within a specific research field [32,33]. Since then, the method has been applied to areas such as engineering, biology, energy, medicine, and administration [34].…”

“…To achieve the proposed objective, a bibliometric analysis was used. This method can be used to identify, organize, and analyze the principal elements of a research topic [41]. Furthermore, using statistical, mathematical, and mapping tools, it enables the metadata available in the different repositories to be represented, and this determines the trends in the research field [42,43].…”
