Cuminum cyminum (Jeera) has the ability to control corrosion of various metals and alloys such as Al, MS, SS, CS, zinc, copper and brass. It behaves as a green corrosion inhibitor in acidic, basic or neutral media. Various techniques like WL method and electrochemical methods such as PDP and EIS have been used to evaluate the corrosion inhibition efficiency of Cuminum cyminum. The protective film has been analysed by FT-IR, UV-Vis. spectroscopy, SEM and EDX methods. Adsorption of Henna on metal surface obeys Langmuir isotherm depending on nature of metal and corrosive environment. Polarization study reveals that Cuminum cyminum can function as anodic or cathodic or mixed type of inhibitor depending on nature of metal and corrosive environment.
