The objective of the article is to analyse selected indicators of sustainable development in the field of “public health”, especially those related to health and health-related inequalities. The article focuses on the analysis of indicators in the field of “public health” presented by Eurostat. These indicators were presented in terms of averages and medians. Moreover, the paper indicates the amount of funds allocated for prevention in health care. In addition, the cluster method was used to identify EU countries similar to each other in terms of the leading indicator of sustainable development (SD). The study was conducted using annual data for 2010–2019 for Poland as compared to other EU countries. The study used data from the Eurostat and OECD databases. In almost all of the analysed countries, in relation to the demographic and health situation, there is a close link between the financial situation, health and inequalities in health-related fields. Patients’ sense of safety has decreased in Poland, which is the result of the growing consumption of health services and emerging problems with the availability of health care services as well as environmental pollution. Among others, the percentage of people with health problems and low income has increased. Although the percentage of unmet needs resulting from income inequalities has decreased over the past year in the analysed groups of countries, it is still high in Poland. The low level of expenditure on prevention makes these difficulties even more severe. In summary, capturing changes in indicators describing public health in the context of its impact on sustainable development plays a key role in balancing out inequalities in the EU countries and in managing a common policy.

Expenditure on transportation in households in voivodeships in Poland from 2004 to 2021

The paper aims to identify differences and changes in household expenditure on transport by voivodeships in Poland from 2004 to 2021. Using two variables – the value and the share of household expenditures on transport – voivodeships with the lowest and highest levels of indicators were distinguished, and the coefficient of variation between voivodeships was calculated. The results show that the greatest increase in the value of household expenditure on transport was observed in Dolnośląskie, while the lowest increase was in the Lubuskie voivodeship. The value of expenditure on transport decreased significantly in the pandemic year 2020, but the share did not drop below the level observed in previous years, probably due to the overall decrease in household consumption expenditure. Differences between voivodeships in the value of households’ expenditure on transport did not shrink during the analyzed period, as evidenced by the coefficient of variation between 2004 and 2021, which did not decrease. Grouping voivodeships based on the value of household expenditure on transport showed that in some voivodeships, the situation remained stable, while expenditures increased in Dolnośląskie and Lubelskie, and decreased in Małopolskie and Podkarpackie.

Objective The aim of the article is to present two issues; the concept of sustainability and the style of organisational leadership. The authors‘ goal is to demonstrate that a participative management style supports the implementation of the concept of organisational sustainability. Methodology The research method used to achieve the objective is a critical analysis of the literature, an analysis of secondary research and a review of good practice. Findings As the presented examples of the implementation of the concept of sustainable development in specific companies show, the implementation of this type of idea is definitely conducive to the selection of a participative style of leadership. Value Added Active participation of subordinates in shaping the sustainable development strategy in the organisation and their awareness of the real influence on the vision is realised, to a very large extent determines the success of achieving the goals set by the leader (and worked out together with subordinates). Recommendations It is recommended to create a vision, according to which the company operates in the spirit of sustainable development, and to enable subordinates to actively participate in the implementation of the strategy and the systematic evaluation of its results.
