Sustainable electricity generation fuel mix analysis using an integration of multicriteria decision‐making and system dynamic approach

Abstract: To achieve a national energy access target of 90% urban and 51% rural by 2035, combat climate change, and diversify the energy sector in the country, the Zambian government is planning to integrate other renewable energy resources (RESs) such as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal into the existing hydro generation-based power system. However, to achieve such targets, it is essential for the government to identify suitable combination of the RESs (electricity generation fuel mix) that can provide the greatest… Show more

“…The first application of IIoT systems is to optimize the fuel mix of different types of generating units. This task is of high importance, since there is a wide range of generating units in a power network, which are becoming increasingly diversified [21]. Thus, integration of IIoT systems in EPSs can maximize the efficiency of power generation by balancing the fuel mix.…”

“…A smaller number of studies were designed to assess multiple RETs (n = 17) e.g. Mwanza and Ulgen, 2020 [47] [51] include criteria to assess the impact to the local community, impact of noise, and visual blight on the landscape; • Some tools have been designed to act as structuring for stakeholder; discussion/participatory methods (n = 13).e.g. González and Connell, 2022 [54], and Mekonnen and Gorsevsk, 2015 [53]; • Multi-criteria decision analysis is often used to support the generation of results in these tools (n = 17) e.g.…”
