Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies (BRICS)

Abstract

Emerging economies often face challenges of suboptimal resource allocation, socioeconomic disparities, and deficiencies in healthcare and social welfare provisions. India's journey to become the third-largest start-up ecosystem globally clearly demonstrates how entrepreneurship has successfully tackled these difficulties. Nevertheless, using sustainable business concepts in entrepreneurial activities is crucial for sustainably addressing these challenges. Conventional business beliefs chase only profit motives, but sustainable entrepreneurship promotes a fundamental change in the belief that businesses may achieve financial gain while safeguarding the environment by focusing on people, profit, and the planet. This chapter has elucidated the significance of sustainable entrepreneurship in alleviating social and economic inadequacies in developing nations. Additionally, it explores the growing opportunities that arise from implementing circular economy and SDG objectives.
