The goal of waste management in many nations is moving closer to a circular economy, which aims to create a sustainable society with lower levels of waste generation, fewer landfills, and higher recycling rates. The waste-to-energy (WTE) project's ability to use resources and be safe has made it an essential component in the development of renewable energy. This chapter's review centers on the waste-to-energy site selection issue from 2010 to 2024. It presents a new framework and categorization of the current research streams as well as the many MCDM techniques that have been employed.
