Various methods of multicriteria analysis (optimization) have been developed and have recently been widely applied in trade. With this in mind, this paper investigates the efficiency of trade companies in Serbia based on the SAW method. The results of the research show that out of the ten largest trade companies in Serbia, Delhaize Serbia is the most efficient in terms of operating revenues in 2019. Food retailers are more efficient than petroleum retailers. In principle, foreign retail chains with specific strategies and business models are efficient. In order to improve the efficiency of trade companies in Serbia in the future, it is necessary to manage assets, capital, human capital, sales and profits as efficiently as possible. The impact of Covid-19 on the performance of trade companies in Serbia is negligible. It has been largely offset by increased electronic sales, which is the case in the world and the countries of the European Union.

During the last 20 years, there has been an increased interest among academics and practitioners in the area of business incubation. However, limited attention has been devoted to developing a comprehensive framework that can measure business incubators' performances. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an appropriate, robust and useable performance framework. In this paper, we present a comprehensive framework using a weighted fuzzy inference system for business incubation centres' (BIC) performance measurement. The proposed approach utilises the input of a Delphi panel to identify criteria and subcriteria. Then a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process is used to weigh the criteria. Subsequently, a weighted fuzzy inference system is developed and applied to provide results based on the identified criteria and subcriteria. To show the proficiency and applicability of the proposed framework, a case study of Irish BICs is applied. The comprehensive performance measurement framework presented in this paper provides for accurate evaluation and monitoring across six criteria. The six criteria are facilities and infrastructure; clients; networking and marketing; products and services; finance; and human capital. The results show that although most of the BICs focus on facilities and infrastructure, there is a need to concentrate more on factors such as networking, marketing and finance. The detailed approach presented in this paper can be used by academics and practitioners who wish to apply fuzzy inference systems to performance measurement. In addition, the results from our pilot can be used by BIC managers and policymakers to improve performance.

In this study, we identify the determinants of cash holding in Macedonian manufacturing companies. The analysis was conducted using accounting data from publicly available financial statements of the sample of Macedonian industrial companies for the 2005 to 2019 period. The research was conducted through the prism of the postulates of the three main theories in corporate finance, i.e., the trade-off theory, pecking order theory,and thefree cash flow theory. To that end, we applied a panel regression analysis, while from the obtained results we assess which theoretical model best explains the cash management in Macedonian companies. We found that the cash to total assets ratio averaged 3.1%. The cash holding decreases with the decrease of the net working capital, financial leverage,cash flow variability, andcash conversion cycle. Cash holding increases with the increase of the company size, cash flow, debt maturity, and capital investments. We concluded that most of the results are in line with the pecking order theory, which indicates that Macedonian companies do not have predefined cash balances, and the cash holdings are abuffer between retained earnings and investments. The level of cash holding is not planned and is not optimized, but is determined during the work processes and depends on other business decisions.
