“…The water scarcity and evaporation of a large amount of water-notably significant environmental impact (Ramkissoon & Sowamber, 2018;Sowamber & Ramkissoon, 2019)-has caused the authorities to divert the water quota from a nearby jungle to the lake (Financial Tribune, 2016;Haghighi et al, 2018). As a result, the nearby forest that once covered an area of 1,450 hectares and brought to life to prevent dust storms from reaching Tehran over 40 years ago, barely covers 840 hectares these days (Etemadonline, 2019;Financial Tribune, 2016;Rousta et al, 2018).…”

“…Some behaviour change methods that have been extensively discussed in the tourism literature include belief selection, persuasive communication, participation, nudging, reinforcement, elaboration, modelling, active learning, and feedback among other techniques. Examples of behaviour change interventions conducted in tourism include carbon offsets, shorter showers through provision of smart metres displaying shower time and water usage, reducing breakfast plate size in hotels to promote food avoidance behaviours, the towel and linen reuse policy in hotels and reducing housekeeping in hotel rooms (see Dolnicar et al, 2020;Nisa et al, 2017;Sowamber and Ramkissoon, 2019;Reynolds et al, 2019;Scott et al, 2016). While some of these behaviour change interventions have been successful, there remains quite a lot to get done to see more solid evidence of impact in tourism and hospitality.…”
