Abstract:Introduction:
Injection of recombinant human nerve growth factor (rhNGF) evokes acute heat and prolonged “polymodal” (mechanosensitive [CM]) and “silent” (mechanoinsensitive [CMi]) C-nociceptor sensitization. Both nociceptor classes can be activated differentially using slowly depolarizing electrical sinusoidal stimuli.
