Literature learning is essential in building students' character and increasing their sensitivity. Local wisdom's importance must be instilled within students in learning literature because its existing values are starting to fade and are not in demand by the current generation. This study aimed to investigate the local wisdom in the ancient Indonesian manuscript "Menak Lare 1" and its application as literature teaching and learning materials in schools. The present research employed a descriptive qualitative design. The object of the study was an ancient Indonesian manuscript entitled "Menak Lare 1". It contained stories about Amir Hamzah's struggle to spread Islam. The research data sources were informants and archives or documents. Data analysis in this study incorporated a flow model. The findings revealed that the elements of local wisdom were contained in the "Menak Lare 1" manuscript so that it could be implemented as literature teaching and learning material in school. The results of this research could help preserve local wisdom through the learning process by engaging varied lesson materials.

Syiir, one of traditional Islamic poetry has some functions in terms of cultural preservation and heritage and it will be discussed in this article. The less practical implementation and usefulness of Syiir in modern society of Indonesia and how to preserve it as cultural heritage have been the main concern.A qualitative research methodology has been used in this article to explore the cultural importance, the origins, and relevance of Syiir. Moreover, the methodology is also used to investigate the main themes and patterns in Syiir as well as the explanation on why the practices has declined. In addition, this article employed participant observation, indepth interviews, and text analysis as its approach.The findings show the importance of Syiir, particularly on its functions as a tool to transfer the religious teachings, moral principles, as well as cultural identity from one generation to generation. Nonetheless, other contributing factors also appear as the cause of Syiir practical decline and it includes the socio-cultural dynamics shift and digital era. As a conclusion, this research shows that it appears a necessity to preserve Syiir as cultural heritage through reenactment and promotion. Furthermore, preservation and renewal actions are provided in this article. They include the programs related to educational purposes, community-based projects, and digital-based preservation. The purpose of this research is to actively participate in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Indonesia for the sake of future generations by acknowledging the importance of Syiir as a cultural wealth.

Kiai Haji Ahmad Rifai Kalisalak Jawa Tengah dikenal memiliki peninggalan berupa kitab-kitab pembelajaran beraksara Arab berbahasa Jawa atau yang dikenal aksara pegon. Dari 60 an judul lebih karyanya sebagian besar tersusun dalam bentuk nazam, dan hanya sedikit yang berbentuk natsar. Hal yang menarik bahwa diasumsikan nazam karya K.H. Ahmad Rifai ini tidak mengikuti ilmu Arudl dan Qawafi yang sudah popular dalam menyusun nazam Arab seperti bahar Thawil, Rajaz, dan seterusnya. Demikian pula, nazam-nazam tersebut tidak mengikuti ilmu tembang macapat Jawa seperti Mijil, Sinom, dan seterusnya. Menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, artikel ini berupaya menguji asumsi tersebut dengan membahas dan menyajikan contoh pola nazam yang digunakan K.H. Ahmad Rifai dan memadankan dengan bahar yang ada (taqthi). Kajian ini diharapkan menjadi khazanah yang memperkaya keilmuan sastra Arab, Islam, dan Jawa, khususnya pada bidang nazam. Hasil kajian ini dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: 1) Taqthi’ pada contoh nazam dengan awalan redaksi teks Arab diasumsikan mengikuti/mirip dengan salah satu dari empat wazan yaitu basith, rajaz, sari’, dan munsarih dengan banyak penyimpangan. 2) Meskipun kajian ini menguatkan pernyataan pengikut Rifaiyah bahwa nazam Rifaiyah tidak mengikuti suatu bahar/wazan syair Arab, tetapi asumsi bahwa K.H. Ahmad Rifai mendapat pengaruh atau latarbelakang keilmuan sastra Arab lebih besar dibanding pengaruh ilmu tembang Jawa.
