Symmetrical treatment of “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition”, for major depressive disorders

Abstract: BackgroundWe previously presented a group theoretical model that describes psychiatric patient states or clinical data in a graded vector-like format based on modulo groups. Meanwhile, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5, the current version), is frequently used for diagnosis in daily psychiatric treatments and biological research. The diagnostic criteria of DSM-5 contain simple binominal items relating to the presence or absence of specific symptoms. In spite of its… Show more

“…In this study, we observed the effects of MS, CUMS, and MS combined CUMS on body weight and behaviors of rats. Knowing that losing weight could be one of the symptoms of depression ( 27 ), the treatment of CUMS and MS+CUMS led to an obvious loss in weight in our study, which indicated that animals were in a progression of depression-like behavior, and this was consistent with previous studies ( 28 , 29 ). Gracia-Rubio et al reported that maternal separation caused emotional alterations but had no impact on body weight ( 30 ).…”

“…Weight loss is one of the nine specific symptoms of MDD (Sawamura et al, 2016); thus, the animals in this study were weighed weekly to measure how CUMS affected their weights. Some studies have shown an association between depression and food intake (Privitera et al, 2016); therefore, we also recorded the A B C C FIGURE 5 | Effects of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS), Xiaoyaosan, and fluoxetine on the colon tissue mucous membrane appearance and goblet cell morphology.…”

“…Reference genome sequences of these grass species were downloaded from Phytozome v12.1 ( https://phytozome.jgi.doe.gov/pz/portal.html ) except for O. thomaeum v2.0, which was downloaded from CoGe ( https://genomevolution.org/coge/ ), and Z. japonica r1.1, which was downloaded from Zoysia Genome Database ( http://zoysia.kazusa.or.jp/index.html ). Sequences of SNV markers were originally stored in the Tags on Physical Map file from the UNEAK pipeline, and were then formatted to the standard FASTA file using python program TagDigger 60 . Alignment was performed with Bowtie2 61 with stringent criteria: -D 20 -R 3 -N 1 -L 18 -i S,1,0.50–local.…”
