Abstract:The outstanding structural and chemical characteristics of zeolites (porous crystal forms of aluminosilicate oxides) are well known, but little is known about their optical properties. In this work, we examine the impact of symmetry on the optical characteristics of zeolites utilizing quantum simulations via time‐dependent density functional theory. We demonstrate that zeolites with high symmetry (cubic ACO zeolite) absorb light in the visible spectrum, whereas zeolites with low symmetry (trigonal AFY zeolite)… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
