Synergistic cytotoxicity of ampelopsin sodium and carboplatin in human non-small cell lung cancer cell line SPC-A1 by G1 cell cycle arrested

Abstract: Amp-Na exhibits anticancer activities and enhances the antitumor activities of CBP through up-regulation of p21 and inhibition of CDK2 activity in human NSCLC cells SPC-A1. These results suggest that Amp-Na may be applied to enhance the anticancer action of CBP.

“…To evaluate the effects of the drugs in combination, we calculated the coefficient of drug interaction (CDI) using the formula CDI=AB/(A×B), where AB is the tumor volume ratio of the combination group to the control group, and A and B are the tumor volume ratios of the single agent groups to the control group. A CDI value <1, =1 or >1 indicates synergistic, additive or antagonistic effects, respectively, which a CDI <0.7 indicating a significant synergistic effect ( 20 ).…”

“…Furthermore, we analyzed the coefficient of drug interaction (CDI) metric. Dose-dependent effects of AR-42 and DDP at fixed dose ratios were calculated using the CDI value that identified dual-drug synergism, antagonism, or additivity (L. Lu et al, 2017;Zheng et al, 2016). The CDI value was calculated according to the following formula: CDI = AB/(A*B).…”

“…Ampelopsin has been indeed shown to inhibit proliferation, induce apoptosis, suppress migration, invasion and metastasis in various types of tumoral cells [17] , [18] , [27] , [28] . Moreover, treatment of malignant cells with ampelopsin was also demonstrated to confer overcoming resistance and potentiating the responses to standard anticancer drugs like erlotinib [29] or carboplatin [30] , opening new avenues in cancer treatment. Therefore, in this review article the molecular mechanisms behind these promising effects are described in depth.…”
