“…A summary of the different critical loads (LC1, LC2, and LC3) for both types of DLC coatings is presented in Table 2. defined at around 40 N, whereas the last coating between the indenter and substrate (LC3) appeared at about 60 N. These results of the adhesion test are higher than those reported in Reference [22], showing an LC3 value of 35 N, or in Reference [23], with a value of 16 up to 40 N in non-nitrided steels as a function of the bias voltage. In this sense, by using different biases, similar results were reported in Reference [25], with an LC3 value of 55 N, although this work presented multilayered coatings.…”

“…In both figures, the acoustic emission (AE) and the coefficient of friction (COF) are represented, which establish a relationship between the normal and tangential forces, respectively. According to this, on one hand, in Figure 7, the ta-C DLC coating presented the first cohesive failure (LC1) at about 12 N and the first adhesive failure (LC2) at around 20 N, whereas the appearance of the substrate (LC3) occurred at around 50 N. On the other hand, in Figure 8, it can be clearly observed that the adhesion related to the WC:C coating was better than the ta-C coating because LC2 was defined at around 40 N, whereas the last coating between the indenter and substrate (LC3) appeared at about 60 N. These results of the adhesion test are higher than those reported in Reference [22], showing an LC3 value of 35 N, or in Reference [23], with a value of 16 up to 40 N in non-nitrided steels as a function of the bias voltage. “…As reported in the literature [18], amorphous carbon film presents bands in the region of 3100 to 2700 cm −1 . In this work, the FTIR spectra show CH 3 bonds with bend mode in 1450 cm −1 , C=C bonds in the region of 1680 to 1600 cm −1 , C≡C bonds in 2250 to 2100 cm −1 , and carbon bonds in 900 to 690 cm −1 denote the aromatic presence with out of plane bend [44].…”

“…However, the increase in the voltage influences the displacement of the G band to smaller numbers of Raman shift. The voltage of 600 V (a-C:H-600V) causes the highest displacement from 1560 to 1492 cm −1 , as shown in figure 3(a), indicating the formation of cyclic structures in carbon atoms with sp 2 hybridization [44].…”
