Synergistic influence of probiotic and florfenicol on embryonic viability, performance, and multidrug-resistant Salmonella Enteritidis in broiler chickens

Abstract: This study was conducted during the period of August 2021 to April 2022 and divided into two parts. The first part involved the isolation and characterization of Salmonella from 200 diseased broiler chickens collected from farms in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, with the detection of its antimicrobial susceptibility. The second experimental part involved in ovo inoculation of probiotics and florfenicol to evaluate their effects on hatchability, embryonic viability, growth performance traits and the control of mu… Show more

“…Заражение сельскохозяйственных кур сальмонеллезом приводит к огромным экономическим потерям, а присутствие сальмонеллы в куроводческих продуктах препятствует международной торговле. Поэтому для предотвращения на птицефабриках заражения сельскохозяйственных кур сальмонеллой требуются дополнительные затраты на эпидемиологический надзор, профилактику и контроль [8][9][10].…”

“…Major public health concerns include the widespread application of antibiotics in the chicken industry and the subsequent rise of multidrug-resistant ( MDR ) Salmonella strains that can be spread from animals to humans via the food chain ( Shang et al, 2018 ; Nabil et al, 2023 ). Several studies have indicated that MDR is prevalent among Salmonella serotypes isolated from animal feeds ( Holt et al, 2007 ).…”
