Syngas Production from Catalytic CO2 Reforming of CH4 over CaFe2O4 Supported Ni and Co Catalysts: Full Factorial Design Screening

Abstract: In this study, the potential of dry reforming reaction over CaFe2O4 supported Ni and Co catalysts were investigated. The Co/CaFe2O4 and Ni/CaFe2O4 catalysts were synthesized using wet impregnation method by varying the metal loading from 5-15 %. The synthesized catalysts were tested in methane dry reforming reaction at atmospheric pressure and reaction temperature ranged 700-800 o C. The catalytic performance of the catalysts based on the initial screening is ranked as 5%Co/CaFe2O4 < 10%Co/CaFe2O4 < 5%Ni/CaFe2… Show more

“…Figure 2 demonstrates the other bands in the spectra which showed the presence of acetylacetonate. The band at 831-873 cm −1 corresponded to the C−O bond, while the peak at 480, 685, and 775 cm −1 corresponded to NiO, CoO, and PdO, respectively [23,24], as per the reported data. A band at around 3635-3637 cm −1 was attributed to the stretching frequency of moisture [25].…”

“…The CeO 2 promoted Ni/CaFe 2 O 4 catalyst was prepared by co‐impregnation of Ce(NO 3 ) 3 ·6H 2 O and (Ni(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O) precursors equivalent to 3% and 15% of CeO 2 and Ni respectively in a solution of CaFe 2 O 4 . The use of 15% Ni‐loading for the synthesis of the catalyst was established in our initial screening (5%‐15% Ni‐loading) in which the highest catalyst activity was obtained at 15% Ni‐loading . The solution was thoroughly mixed using a magnetic stirrer and thereafter dried overnight in an oven at 297 K. The dried sample was calcined in a muffle furnace at 1073 K and consequently crushed.…”
