“…45 The sterically-hindered silanedichalcogenols Tbt(Mes)Si(EH)(E 0 H) (E = S, E 0 = S; E = O, E 0 = S, Se) have been used to synthesise the 4-membered ring species Tbt(Mes)Si(m-S) 2 PnBbt and [Tbt(Mes)Si(m-E)-(m-E 0 )ML n ] [E, E 0 = O, S, Se; Pn = Sb, Bi; ML n = Pd(PPh 3 ) 2 , Pt(PPh 3 ) 2 , Ru(Z 6 -C 6 H 6 )]. 46 Condensation of Ar 47 Similar condensation reactions of Ar 2 TeQO (Ar = p-MeOC 6 H 4 ) with 2-, 3-and 4-pyridine carboxylic acids (LH) were found to be strongly dependent upon the stoichiometry used; a 1 : 1 ratio (in the presence of water) afforded Ar 2 Te(L)OH but under anhydrous conditions yielded the ditelluroxanes Ar 2 Te(L)OTe(L)Ar 2 . The anhydrous 1 : 2 and 3 : 2 reactions yielded Ar 2 TeL 2 and the tri-telluroxanes Ar 2 Te(L)OTeAr 2 OTe(L)Ar 2 respectively.…”

“…The Tokitoh group used a reactive silanedithiol synthon, Tbt(Mes)Si(SH) 2 , to prepare heterocyclic structures featuring pnictogen (Pn) centers, Tbt(Mes)Si(μ-S 2 )Pn(Bbt) (Pn = Sb and Bi; 762 and 763 ), by condensation of the in situ generated dianion [Tbt(Mes)Si(S) 2 ] 2– with the hindered substrates BbtPnBr 2 (Tbt = 2,4,6-tris[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]phenyl) . The structurally characterized BiS 2 Si ring in 763 has a planar square-shaped geometry with the bulky aryl substituents (Tbt and Bbt) oriented in trans arrangements relative to each other (Scheme ).…”

“…A well-defined Pb 2 S 2 four-membered heterocycle, [BrPb(μ-SAr Trip )] 2 ( 797 ), was generated as a side product from the reaction of 2 equiv of Li[SAr Trip ] with PbBr 2 in an effort to prepare the lead(II) bis(thiolate) [Ar Trip ] 2 Pb: . Lastly, hybrid inorganic rings containing group 14 elements linked to transition metals via sulfido bridges (e.g., 798 ; Figure ) have been reported by various groups. , …”

“…of the type RME (M = Sb, Bi; E = S, Se, Te) containing the group 15 element in the formal oxidation state III typically form chalcogen-bridged dimers [RM--E] 2 in the solid state [13,120,121,122,123,124,125,126]. In contrast, compounds containing a terminal M-E bond are still very rare (M = Sb) or even completely unknown (M = Bi).…”
