Uranium I 5900 Syntheses, Structures, Physical Properties, and Electronic Properties of Some AMUQ 3 Compounds (A: Alkali Metal, M: Cu or Ag, Q: S or Se). -The isostructural compounds RbCuUS3, RbAgUS3, CsCuUS3, CsAgUS3, RbAgUSe3, and CsAgUSe3 are synthesized by solid state reactions of Cu or Ag, U, and S or Se using A2Q3 (A: Rb, Cs; Q: S, Se) as reactive fluxes (873 K, 4 d). The compounds are characterized by single crystal XRD, single crystal optical measurements, electronic conductivity measurements, and DTF calculations. The materials crystallize with the layered KZrCuS3 structure in the orthorhombic space group Cmcm with Z = 4. The structure contains UQ6 octahedra and MQ4 tetrahedra sharing edges to form ∞2 ] layers which are separated by face-and edge-sharing AQ8 bicapped trigonal prisms.
