“…Thus, the concept of functionalization of organic ligands with noncovalent bond donor or acceptor sites is a promising strategy for obtaining functional materials based on lanthanide complexes. There are already many examples of lanthanide complexes having intraand intermolecular noncovalent interactions, and in this minireview we have illustrated cases that show an important role of these weak forces in supramolecular aggregation [174,175] or polymerization, [62,134,135,172,175] stabilization of divalent Ln compounds, [58] MOFs, [51,107] E/Z!E isomerization, [57] chemical sensing, [166] catalysis, [175] etc.…”

“…For instance, the molecular conformation of an europium complex (5) is found to be stabilized through intermolecular lone pair-π (3.194 Å) and π-π (3.371 Å) interactions, and the cooperative action of these noncovalent interactions lead to a 1D chain (Scheme 2a). [62] Moreover, the [Eu(NO 3 ) 5 ] 2À anion is encapsulated by two triazine ligands in 6 via ionic interactions as well as anion-π interactions between O-anions of coordinated nitrates and the triazine π-system, with distances of 2.736 and 2.751 Å (Scheme 2b). [63] Noncovalent interactions in lanthanide complexes are not limited to the involvement of the secondary coordination sphere of this class of compounds, but the central Ln atom may also participate in intermolecular interactions leading to a ''rareearth'' bond or interaction.…”

“…Lanthanide-tetrazolate complexes have also become more of interest in the literature recently, [191][192][193][194][195][196][197][198][199][200][201] with most of the research focusing on luminescent properties of the 4f tetrazolates. [191][192][193][194][197][198][199] They have also been studied for their ability to behave as single-molecule magnets, due to their strong spin-orbit coupling ability. 196 Very few organometallic lanthanide-tetrazolate complexes have been published, 200,201 and there are no current examples of cerium-tetrazolates.…”
